About us

Welcome to St Emmanuel Orphanage School

St. Emmanuel Orphanage School is a Catholic, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting orphaned and abandoned children. Founded in 2013 by Fr. Robert Bob Overman, the school provides hope, education, and shelter to children in need. Fr. Overman, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 91, was driven by his unwavering compassion for vulnerable children and a desire to transform their lives.

What we do.

Located in Mengo, Wakiso District, St. Emmanuel Orphanage School serves over 329 children aged 3–15 years. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where children receive education, meals, and shelter. Every evening, we gather to pray, celebrate Mass, and say the Holy Rosary, seeking the intercession of the Virgin Mary to guide us in unity and love.

About this Orphanage Mission

The Heart Behind Our Cause

Fr. Overman’s mission began long before founding the orphanage. As a young man, he was deeply moved by the plight of children left without care due to poverty, abandonment, or the devastating effects of the AIDS pandemic. He believed every child deserved love, guidance, and the chance to thrive.

In 1988, during the height of the AIDS epidemic, Fr. Overman vowed to dedicate his life to helping children orphaned or abandoned. His vision was to offer not just physical support but also spiritual guidance, ensuring that each child could find hope and healing through God’s love.
